What Are Carrier Oils – Uses & Benefits For Skin & Hair

Carrier oils are oils also known as vegetable oils, fixed oils, or foundation oils that come from the fatty sections of plants like nuts, seeds, and kernels. Unlike essential oils, these oils are less sensitive to air and do not evaporate as quickly. They are referred to as ‘carrier oils’ because they transfer essential oils onto the skin. In virtually all circumstances, essential oils should be diluted before being applied to the skin. When used improperly, many essential oils can cause significant irritation, sensitization, and redness when applied to the skin undiluted. It is critical to use carrier oils carefully.
